e government are: Deploying & Integrating lean fundamentals
The Impact of leadership on embedding a culture of continuous improvement
Building the new working culture for a more efficient government
Maintaining competitiveness through continuous improvement
Principles and strategies for generating a profound change

The world is changing around us at an incredible pace due to remarkable technological advancements and governments seeing the advantages of being trim. This process can either overwhelm us or make our lives better and our country stronger. Governments have to respond to keep up with the hopes and aspirations of citizens and businesses, to remain efficient and trustworthy.

The results of increasing efficiency and productivity are:

Governments reducing their tax take and other receipts, expressed as appropriation of GDP, by an average of 6.5% over the last two decades
Real GDP grew faster to an average rate of 4.1%
Governments expanded their spending on the public sector at a faster rate(increased from 2.4% a year in 1990 to 4.3% in 2005)
Governments were able to spend more on education
More jobs were created in a lean government environment
Lean governments were better able to respond to the pressures of globalisation, because of a higher positive balance of trade
Governments were more likely to respond to the pressure of globalizations because of higher exports than imports
Governments were also able to see striking growth in private sector productivity

e-learning

e-learning is a way of learning via Internet

encyclopedia

http://www.encyclopedia.com/
http://www.encarta msn.com

An encyclopedia is a book or series of books that contain general information about many topics or area. A dictionary offers definition of words, while an encyclopedia explores topics more in depth and often includes illustrations, maps, and photographs. Many encyclopedias are now being published in CD-ROM form, with the most notable example being Microsoft's Encarta™; other encyclopedias are now entirely available online, with no print version.

One of the most important advantages of online encyclopedias is the fact that they can be edited frequently, so they remain up to date. Traditionally, an encyclopedia was written by a single writer or as a collaborative effort, but new works are being put together by a team of writers that often have no face to face contact whatsoever with each other.

example: yongle encyclopedia and Microsoft Encarta

online universities

http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk

http://www.elearners.com

An online university is a school that offers courses of study and degrees for completion of studies over the Internet, rather than in physical classrooms. Many of these schools are good institutions, often based on the instruction methods of the institutions to which they are connected.

The online university that conducts itself entirely over the Internet usually has less formal rules about time frame for completion of assignments.

As you can see there are several reasons that online universities are more advantageous than a typical college. You can sit in your favorite chair and attend classes. Then, once all of your classes are done, you get your degree that allows you to apply for positions making more money. Sounds like a good deal to me.

An online university generally depends upon written instruction and explanation and it may be impossible to have a face-to-face meeting with an instructor to clarify terms. Sometimes an instructor conducts classes on DVDs or short films available on the Internet.

The online university generally requires a higher degree of self-discipline than a traditional university, especially when a rigid schedule for turning in assignments is not maintained.

Disadvantages of online university

  • no interaction on surrounding most of the interaction is sent to the teachers via e-mail and through chat sessions, students are able to proof read everything they send.

  • There is very little chance that students will incorrectly word things doing it this way. It ultimately creates more confidence in the students.

  • there isn’t face-to-face interaction.
Many schools have discussion boards, where students go post their individual thoughts on

ecommerce

E-Commerce is about setting your business on the Internet, allowing visitors to access your website, and go through a virtual catalog of your products / services online.

E-Commerce is not about just online stores, its about anything and everything to do with money.

When a visitor wants to buy something he/she likes, they merely, "add" it to their virtual shopping basket. Items in the virtual shopping basket can be added or deleted, and when you're all set to checkout...you head to the virtual checkout counter, which has your complete total, and will ask you for your name, address etc. and method of payment (usually via credit card).

Once you have entered all this information (which by the way is being transmitted securely) you can then just wait for delivery. Its that simple.

If you pay (via cash, check, credit card, etc.) E-Commerce is about to make an introduction into your life soon. Banks like Bank of America and Wells Fargo are now giving their clients accessibility to their bank accounts via the web.

In short, by implementing E-Commerce, you save money, are online 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, no traffic jams, shopping crowds, carrying overloaded heavy shopping bags etc. Just more business, the easy way.

  • Along, the same lines, you do not deal directly with the salespeople as well.

  • If you have a major problem that you need to take care of immediately you cannot deal with it in person. If you are simply a people person, shopping online will not be for you because you will not be participating with anyone but yourself.
